The origins of incense lie in the distant past. It has been burned by people across all faiths and cultures for thousands of years. It is frequently used throughout the world today, often in a spiritual, religious or ceremonial setting. The fragrant smoke that arises from burning incense is an offering to the Unseen World. It is the visible link, or prayer, between the worlds, between Heaven and Earth.
Incense is also used in homes everywhere for the sheer pleasure it brings to our lives. Our sense of smell is unique among our senses, directly connecting to our brain through our nose – immediately touching the oldest and most primitive part of our brain, the amygdala. In this way fragrance speaks directly to us, evoking both remembered and forgotten memories. It also serves to create new ones.
The fragrances used to make incense come from many sources in the natural world - from berries, bark, flowers, gums, roots, leaves, seeds, spices and woods, the very same sources of healing and well-being sought by the Hedgewitch, the Herbalist, and the Healer. Enjoy.
Customers often ask about the traditional magical qualities of the fragrances in our incenses. You can find out more here.
We currently stock a brilliant range of incenses! We want to give our customers a wide range of choice, all the way from the inexpensive single scents from Tulasi to the deep lingering fragrances of Fred Soll’s ‘Resin On A Stick’.
Resin On A Stick Incense
A superb high quality incense. This is pure resin incense - handmade, hand dipped and dried in New Mexico. It is, frankly, in a league entirely of its own and we are blown way by it. It is very special and not cheap. So be warned!
Tulasi Incense, on the other hand, is a delightfully simple, single fragrance incense from India. The range is wide and inexpensive, allowing you if you wish, to create your own intentional aromas. With these you can mix and match - and have fun.
Then we have three more brands all of which express their own unique personalities.
Satya Sai Baba Nag Champa Incense is the world famous and absolutely unique classic. (I remember first meeting it under the name of Blue Pearl many years ago and then being blown away with this astonishing fragrance....).
We are stocking this in the various weights of 15gms, 40 gms and 100 gms. Along with the Nag Champa you will find numerous fragrances from the Satya range, including the favourite Sandalwood and Dragons Blood.
The very popular Karma Incense range comes in six all time popular fragrances.
But what makes it extra special is the sparkly incense stick holder attached to each pack.
Finally but not at all least, are the Spell Incense Sticks, namely Protection, Love, Happiness, Prosperity, Confidence and Luck, each with an affirmation of intent on the package.
